I never expected to end up in Japan.  Yet here I am, the second time, and I literally forget that I am in a country where I am different as I walk down the street.  I may not be able to read signs or eavesdrop on conversations, but my head subconsciously dips in a slight bow during any interaction and I love holding out my vowels like “arigatoooo gozaimaaaaaaaaassu!”

I was inspired to start this blog by my boyfriend, Naoki, who helps me every day see Japan in a way I might not without him.  I am certainly proud of my own adventures and have many, but asking what things are and particularly WHY they are what they are, is eye-opening.  I don’t accept everything here at face value, though I highly appreciate their perfectionism (being a bit of one myself) and readily disagree or express my opposing opinion when custom bids something I don’t understand or see as the best way.  Naoki has a blog for his dance friends, whomever happens to find it, and as he said “mostly for myself as a record of my life.”   I wanted to start a blog, but not just to have a blog… I felt one needs a purpose.  I always feel that when you are traveling the hardest thing to capture is the every day life.  The hardest thing to share when you get home is what its like to be just in Japan as a person.  So hence one “shashin” per day, I thought might give anyone watching a real idea of feel here.  Also I do like the idea of having an image a day for myself to remember this amazing experience.

I truly love Japan and I am so happy to share that feeling with you.
