How often do you walk out of the house with no cell phone and no ipod? You may think you`re aware, and sure you can multi-task, but there is nothing that compares to learning to appreciate solitude. Forget the destination, just walk, breathe, look, see, take in.
I take my headphones out of my ears and for the first few minutes, I feel bored and restless. Walking is just walking.
Then the world started to appear all around, the details being filled in by an invisible artist. I walked from the station to my home, a trip I have done hundreds of times… and for the very first time I notice that my trip is actually a botnical and education garden. The whole path is planted with different kinds of trees, each marked with a small sign to identify it. These are not necessarily trees that are natural to Japan but a whole array, from palm to pine, to wide jungle leaves.
Life has created eyelid over eyelid of blinder and judgement and disillusionment. Open and open and open again.
